The monthly meeting of the Fremont County Master Gardeners will be this Wednesday July 24 at 5:00 PM at the home of Jim and Carol Brodle, 307 West Pershing in Riverton. There will be a short business meeting followed by a tour of Jim and Carol’s property and the improvements they have made to their pond (including the addition of some Coi fish). Any questions, contact Ernie Schierwagen at 307-851-7562.

On the Agenda...
Strawberry Hoop House Report
Saturday Farmers Market Report
Master Gardeners State Convention
Strawberry Hoop House Work Day

In June, Bob Zent gave us a tour of his garden. We were very impressed with how weed-free the first area was, the plantings in hay bales, and his extensive plantings of multiple types of raspberries, grapes, and the hazelnut and apricot trees he has planted. Bob stated that, with the lack of honey bees and other native pollinators, his raspberries are pollinated by mosquitoes. Bob gets his compost/soil amendment from Casper. We also had a discussion about bad winter storms.
